I made Mr. H an apple pie tonight for fixing the garage door so that I didn't have to break any more fake nails.  Having 10 perfect nails is important for job interviews you know.

Yeah I suck at making crust so opted for a crumb topping and cheated with a store bought bottom crust.  Will post recipe over at chefhester.

Mr. H decided to make "Critters".  Critters are any kind of meat, wrapped in bacon with a slice of jalapeno tucked into the bundle.  These critters were made out of deer meat because Mr. H shot an 8 point Thursday before last (not yesterday) and we had a little deer meat left over from last year but they can be made out of chicken or beef too.

It was a rather nice 8 point and field dressed at about 110 lbs which is nice for this area.  He had it shoulder mounted so I will post pictures when we get the mount.

This is what the deer meat looked like while it was marinating:

Deer meat is rather lean so it helps to wrap it in bacon - the fat from the bacon keeps the meat moist and juicy.

These last pictures are of our cats.  The deer meat is wrapped in white butcher paper and they know what delicacy it holds so if they see the white paper come out of the freezer they get ready for "sneaky snacks".  Actually they beg like little dogs.

They are just waiting for him to fumble a piece of deer meat on the floor and the black/white one actually started pacing back and forth.  The gray one is older and therefore much more paitient - like me **hester giggles here as patience is not one of her virtues**

He finally gets disgusted and takes matters into his own hands or rather paws.  "GIVE ME A PIECE NOW OR I WILL JUMP UP ON THE CABINET AND GET ONE MYSELF"

Oh, that was so good I need some more.

Damn - I didn't realize just how tall our cat is.
