We went shopping, again, last night but this time it was at the Super Wal-Mart. Teeny needed some school supplies - crayons, Elmer's glue, colored construction paper and that was just for his room at home, he also needed some stuff for school, but since we both forgot and left the list sitting on the kitchen table we get to go shopping again tonight to pick up what we couldn't remember.
Nothing exciting happened this trip but we did find (and purchase) those little cardboard boxes of animal crackers. You remember them, brightly painted circus animals on the box and little animal shaped cookies inisde. Apparently Magpie loves them and was willing to stay seated during the rest of the grocery cart ride, but then again, it was rather hard for her to try and stand up with a cookie in each hand. We each had a box and were happily munching away while perusing through the store.
Later last night, after I finally got Magpie to sleep, I went into the kitchen to clean everything up and decided to look at the nutrition label on the side of the box. It was Magpie's box because I had gobbled mine all up. Did you know that one serving (about 8 cookies) contains 120 calories and there is supposed to be 2 servings in a box. That is 240 calories if you eat the whole box. 240 calories! The average person will burn about 250 calories, walking on a treadmill at a 15-minute mile pace for 40 minutes. A 15-minute mile pace means that you would be able to walk 4 miles in an hour, it is quite a fast pace for walking and is the borderline for running. That means it takes about 40 minutes of fast walking to negate the effects of that little box of cookies.
