I heard on the news last night that to date the candidates have spent over a million dollars on their campaigns (collectively). I think this is excessive and un-necessary and that million dollars could have been spent on something else like cancer research or Child Protective Services or finding a cure for AIDS. I think that most everyone had their mind made up months ago, at least the poeple I talk to did. It makes me wonder if the campainging is really a necessary evil and I really got sick of the T.V. ads that bashed each other. It seemed that neither one had all their facts straight. Maybe sometime in the future a candidate will step up to the plate and say "I'm going to donate this million dollars to stem-cell research (i.e. insert favorite cause here) instead of spending it on a campaign". Now I would definately vote for that person.
Sorry - actually it's approaching 4 billion for both the presidential and congressional campaigns
