When we were having dinner at my little sister’s house Thanksgiving night I made the salad. Actually we were eating something yummy, very rare, and bovine and I made the salad and bread and she heated up her leftover potato casserole the one that didn’t get touched at the Thanksgiving Feast because everyone knows that little sis doesn’t/can’t cook. I was pilfering through her drawers to see if she happened to have any salad tongs – you know, like the ones I’d given her for Christmas several years ago – and middle son and I were pulling things out and making fun of her (as usual). We came across one of these and asked her if she knew what it was for. She replied “Yes, it’s used to cut cheese”. Now this sent middle son and me into fits of laughter because he knew what it was for having seen me use it. Actually, to be fair, we probably would have laughed at her no matter what her answer was. Really, she is very smart and clever to think outside the box and use it for that purpose. All I’ve ever used it for is making bread and hadn’t even considered trying to think of new ways to use my utensils. This got me started thinking and from now on I’m going to look for new ways to use the gadgets I’ve accumulated over the last 20 years. Tell me of any gadgets that you use someway other than what they were intended for.
Oh, BTW Sis – I bought your little Diva that you call daughter (4 yr old niece) some black patent tap shoes from Santa. Now, don’t get mad, you know that Diva is quite the shoe freak and has more shoes than I do. They were the only ones I could find that she doesn’t already have. (He, he - her house is mostly tile – She’s gonna hate me, oh, about 9:00 a.m. Christmas Morning).
