Emeril dead?

Sis called me from the grocery store on Wednesday to ask me what a sweet green pepper was. I snickered, because She isn’t known for her culinary skills and has called me before to find out how to make tea, boil eggs, spread peanut butter, etc… When I told her that it was a bell pepper, she wanted to know why so I said, ummmmmmmm, because the other peppers are hot, like jalapeno peppers. It seems that she was making a potato casserole to bring to the Thanksgiving Feast. I admire her braveness, because the whole family knows that she doesn’t cook and she would take some heckling for bringing a dish. About 10 minutes later she called back to ask what hot pepper sauce was. I told her Tabasco and she wanted to know why the recipe didn’t just say Tabasco sauce so I had to explain that Tabasco was a brand name and the recipe writer probably didn’t want to endorse a particular brand name. Middle son was snickering the whole time, because he’d figured out who was on the phone and that she was going to fix something.

When we got to my Uncle’s Thursday, no one touched her casserole, except her, which was quite funny and middle son and I ribbed her about it the whole time, he kept asking her if it was still moving. After we left Uncle’s house (which was out of town) we decided to converge back at Sis’ house because brother from Colorado (and family) was in town staying with her and I wasn’t ready to give up his company. That and the fact that brother-in-law had purchased some awesome steaks earlier that week. When we got to her house, she said the price for eating her steak was that we had to also eat some of her casserole. It turned out to be very tasty and middle son & I were making smart-alec comments during dinner about it. Everyone wanted to know what we were talking about, so I reiterated above questions that had been asked of me by sis before preparing tasty dish. We all had a good laugh and ribbed her about her lack of cooking experience and wanted to know if her husband had really prepared this as he does most of the cooking. He assured us that she was indeed the person who had fixed the dish and that she was learning how to cook. All of the sudden sis looked up at me and said "Your going to web log about this aren’t you?" To which middle son and I started rolling on the floor laughing because she calls this a web log instead of a blog no matter how many times we try to explain the concept to her. Now, she is a very smart person. She has a degree, used to do Echocardiograms on heart patients, and now runs her and hubby’s business, but got an email account for the first time 7 months ago. She is very good-natured and takes all the ribbing with grace but a it just cracks me up when she says web log. I just love my sister.
