Saturday, I'm sick, baby is sick, middle son is sick and hubby has been working an inordinate amount of overtime for the last two weeks on a special project (which is probably the only reason he isn’t sick). Most nights he doesn’t even walk in the door until after 7:00 p.m. and has had to work the last two Saturday’s. I've been dealing with a fussy, clingy baby who can't breathe, is cutting teeth and suffering from separation anxiety from being left with grandma while we went on our skiing vacation. All of this on top of dealing with a torn ACL in my left knee due to trying out for next Wonder Woman movie by flying down slope backwards. Yes, it’s torn, but I’ve opted to try rehab first because I really, really don’t want to be cut on and the Orthopedic Surgeon said that it’s only a partial tear. Anyway, back to Saturday – I’m counting down the hours until hubby gets home as I really need a nap and the only way baby girl will nap is on my chest. When I try to put her down she wakes up and starts crying until I pick her up again – have longingly looked at the Tylenol bottle and considered giving her either a dose of that or some Bourbon to help her get to sleep. Hubby gets home and is allowed to change clothes then he is handed the fussy baby by his grumpy wife and told that she is going to bed – deal with it. I had a lovely 2 ½ hour nap and when I woke up there was an envelope, sitting on top of the Kleenex box, on my night stand. So I picked it up and inside was a gift certificate to my nail place for a manicure and pedicure from my husband. I asked him what it was for and he said that he just wanted to let me know how much he appreciated me taking care of everything, including the fussy little baby, while he has had to work so much. She is my third child so I knew what I was getting into when we decided to have her. I knew there would be times like this when she was fussy and I was fussy and that those times would pass. It’s nice to know that he realizes and appreciates that his daughter is being taken care of when he isn’t here – it was also nice to finally get a pedicure, as I haven’t had one since last October. I just love this man and I’m so glad that he asked me to marry him!
I would much rather get something like this than roses on Valentine's day. I did get something on Valentine's day, but this means so much more because there wasn't any commercial's or store displays to remind him. He's very thoughful that way.
