After wandering around GrapeFest yesterday Mr. H and I decided to stop off at the local watering hole to quench our parched throats, catch the Cowboys throwing around that odd shaped little brown ball and get some vittles.  Several of our friends were there tossing back tasty adult beverages and rooting for the Cowboys being viewed on a big screen. 

We sat down at a table already rowdy with several abbreviated people and one of them happened to be our jeweler – “R” and another good friend “D” (both male).  Mr. H and R were really into their conversation and as usual I’m babbling away at my end of the table about something else when the strains of what they are talking about start making their way through the fog in my brain.  I catch snippets of phrases enough to understand that they are discussing Anniversary rings.

Me:      “What are you talking about?” **directed at Mr. H.**

Mr. H:  “Anniversary rings”

Me:      “Why?”

Mr. H:  “I’ve picked out a hell of an anniversary ring for your 10 yr anniversary” **apparently R has shown Mr. H anniversary rings at some point**

Me:      “Anniversary ring?  I’d rather have a pink iPod.”

D:         “Momma – you’re not right”

Me:      “What?”

Mr. H:  “Only MY wife would rather have a piece of technology instead of a nice ring”

R:         “Dude – get her the iPod, you’ll get out cheaper that way”

Mr. H;  “True”

The whole table is laughing at me as I look around blinking innocently not thinking that I’ve said anything wrong. Both D and R were shaking their heads at me and saying that I’m not right.  Now what exactly is wrong with wanting a pink iPod?
