Ok, it has been one heck of a week and I soooo deserve this. We are going on Holiday next week to Grand Lake, Colorado for a little snowmobiling and skiing.  So I won't be posting or lurking until Sunday, February 13th (ooooooh the 13th, that should be a lucky day). I hope that everyone here has a great week and stays safe.

Now on to my blog stuff. There is something I need to blog about today, yes, this is very habit forming and I need to blog about things. My new boss just realized Tuesday that I was not going to be there all next week (even though I emailed him about this right after Christmas and it's been on his calendar ever since) and he has been rather panicky ever since.  He decided that everything that I've touched or anything that we've ever had a conversation about needs to be finished this week. I'm busting my behind trying to get everything done and in the meantime babysitting him by rationally discussing things with him and calm him down - IT'S NOT WORKING.  I even brought up the fact that I was off on  maturnity leave for 12 weeks this summer and the place was still standing when I got back.  All bases have been covered and I'm certain that things will run smoothly while I'm gone as I work with very capable people who have handled aspects of my job before and I have no doubt that they will do just fine this time holding down the fort.  The problem is that this boss is new and has only been with us since the fall.  Oh, yeah, did I mention that my division is the training ground for up and coming managers as we are core to the business?  It seems that we get a new boss about every 12 to 18 months and once they leave us they climb the ladder.  The reason they run them through our division is that everyone here is very capable and this division could and would run with or without a boss so this is the best place to let them "cut their teeth".  Which gets quite interesting sometimes, but back to this boss and his panicky situation.  He keeps coming to me with fires and I keep putting them out and then patting his hand to calm him down - yeah, I so deserve my Holiday next week!  He even picked up my personal cell phone today and asked me for the number.  I told him that I wasn't going to give it to him and if the company needed to contact me then they needed to provide me with a company cell phone and that I would call in every morning to see if they needed anything.  The reason I won't is because he got ahold of one of my co-workers personal number and would call him on it if he didn't answer his desk phone during the day.  He even called him on the weekends when he thought of something this guy needed to do instead of waiting until Monday to tell him.  The co-worker changed his cell number and boss hasn't asked for the new one.  So I think now he is pissed at me and I'm sure I will come back to something bad or will have lots of stuff piled up on me for a while to get me back for not giving him my personal cell phone number.  The reason I think this is because he kept me over for an hour and a half after work today "discussing" things and they were things that we have already discusses and hashed out and twice he asked me again for my personal cell number.  I'm pretty sure that tomorrow I won't get a lunch and will be kept late again - oh well, we usually only have to put up with new bosses for 18 months so I estimate that we only have 12 more months to go and I think I can survive this, but I'm sure going to consume large amounts of tasty beverages on my Holiday.
