1. To prevent a sparkling wine from foaming out of the glass, pour an ounce, which will settle quickly.  Pouring the remainder of the serving into this starter will not foam as much
2. Wine has so many organic chemical compounds it is considered more complex than blood serum
3. 170 years is the average age of a French oak tree harvested for use in wine barrels
4. Approximately 20 million acres are planted in grapes worldwide
5. There are 10,000 varieties of wine grapes worldwide
6. The soil of the Clos de Bougeot (A vineyard in the Burgundy) is considered so precious that workers are required to scrape it from their shoes before they leave each night (imagine getting arrested for not cleaning your shoes)
7. McDonald's restaurants in some European countries serve alcohol, so parents would be more willing to take their children to them (Hey I  think all McDonald's should do this to make their food more palatable)
8. The Puritans loaded more beer than water onto the Mayflower (did our ancestors know what was important or not)
9. In Fairbanks, Alaska, it's illegal to feed a moose any alcohol beverage
10. Although the French wine, "Fat Bastard", is now distributed in 22 states, both Texas and Ohio have banned its sale (good thing we have relatives in Oklahoma and Colorado)
